# chrishaddoxmusic
> This project highlights the folk music traditions of the Southern West Virginia Coalfields, aiming to shed light on the individuals who contributed to this rich heritage. It seeks to fill information gaps about the musicians by utilizing diverse sources such as archival recordings, field recordings, family histories, and research. The site also features the work of West Virginia songwriter Chris Haddox, whose music is rooted in these traditions and who actively researches local musicians. This initiative, funded by the National Coal Heritage Area, endeavors to preserve, protect, and interpret the cultural history associated with the region's coal mining heritage.
